One of the most relevant points of the event was the discussion with legal sector experts, which looked at the reality of the legal ecosystem in Spain: 95% of law firms bill below half a million. This highlights the large number of individual professionals who, with a lot of experience behind them, practise alone or in teams of 2–3 lawyers. This structure means that lawyers, as well as doing their legal work, must take on multiple tasks: from client acquisition and care to administration and day-to-day legal strategy.
In this context, it is understandable that devoting time to outreach, running a blog or evaluating new technological tools is deprioritised. The overload of responsibilities means many firms see digitalisation as an overwhelming challenge, and the choice of web technology becomes a critical but hard-to-tackle decision.
During the discussion we used a very visual analogy: managing a law firm digitally is like trying to fill a bucket full of holes. Every time you invest money and time in technology, some of that effort is lost if the chosen tool is not the right one or if it is not evaluated properly from the start.
