Ganancia de conocimiento e IA Slope

The End of "Average" Content: Why Knowledge Gain and AI Slope Will Decide If Your Site Exists or Not

Miguel Camacho · 2026-02-04

If you ask an AI today to write about "how to care for a cactus", you will get a correct, neat text that is exactly like 10,000 other blogs.

In the past, this was used to "fill" a site and fool the odd distracted algorithm. Today, in the GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) era, that content is noise. And noise is not ranked; it is ignored.

To survive, we must understand two fundamental laws of the new Internet: Knowledge Gain and the AI Slope.

1. Knowledge Gain: Your new currency

The concept of Information Gain is not new (it appears in Google patents from years ago), but with AI it has become the gold standard metric.

What is it? It is the extra value your content provides compared to what already exists in the search index.

Imagine there are 10 articles on "Marketing for SMEs". If your article is the 11th and says exactly the same as the other 10, your Knowledge Gain is zero. Generative AIs (like ChatGPT or Gemini) have already summarised those 10 articles; they do not need yours at all.

How to generate real Knowledge Gain:

Your own data: Do not cite the 2021 HubSpot study. Publish your own metrics or surveys. Lived experience (E-E-A-T): AI has no body. It does not know what a building site smells like or what it feels like to close a tough sale. Those real anecdotes are unique information. Contrary angles: If everyone says "X is good", and you explain why "X is a waste of time" with evidence, you are adding information gain.

2. The AI Slope: The slope that separates success from oblivion

The AI Slope describes the total democratisation of content creation and its biggest danger.

Before, writing 1,000 words took time and effort. There was a barrier to entry. Today, that barrier has dropped to zero. Anyone can generate a million words in an afternoon.

This creates a quality "slope":

1. The bottom of the slope (Generic Content): Content created by AI without supervision. It is massive, dull and soulless. Search engines and GEO engines are filtering it aggressively. 2. The top of the slope (Authority Content): Content that uses AI as a tool but is grounded in human judgement, research and impeccable technical structure.

If your content strategy stays at the bottom of the slope, the generative search algorithm will see you as a "classmate who only repeats what the person next to them says". And nobody cites the one who only repeats.

3. GEO best practices guide to climb the slope

For your site to be chosen by AIs to be cited, you must optimise under these pillars:

A. "Direct Extraction" structure

AIs look for answers. Do not bury your knowledge in 20-line paragraphs. Use lists, tables and direct sentences.

Bad: "We believe it is essential to consider that speed is important..." Good (GEO friendly): "Page load speed reduces bounce by 20%."

B. Entity density, not keywords

We no longer optimise for "keywords" but for entities. If you talk about Mars (the planet), the AI expects related concepts like "gravity", "atmosphere" or "Elon Musk". If you talk about Marte (our builder), it expects "performance", "technical SEO" and "clean architecture". The richer your concept map, the more authority the AI will grant you.

C. The "Citability" factor

Ask yourself: Is there any sentence in my article that someone would want to copy and paste as an absolute truth? If the answer is no, you have no Knowledge Gain. Create clear sentences that work as "quotes" for the AI.

4. Why Marte is the home of Knowledge Gain content

At Marte we know that writing the best guide in the world is pointless if your site delivers it in a poor technical wrapper.

Frictionless performance: AI prefers sources that load fast. Our infrastructure removes the code "noise" that confuses crawlers. Ready for the future: Our architecture makes it easy for generative engines to identify who the author is, what the main data is and why your site is the original source.

AI has not come to replace the creator; it has come to force the creator to be unique.

The AI Slope will punish those who take the easy path of automatic content. But it will reward with unprecedented visibility those who close the Discovery Gap by providing real Knowledge Gain.

At Marte we give you the rocket. You provide the direction and the fuel (your unique ideas).
